Property is more than just property. It’s about people having a place to BE. Somewhere to call home – whether you’re owning or renting.

At its fundamental level, property gives the most basic need of shelter. But it’s more than just that. People generally have an emotional connection to a property. It’s a place to put down roots, a solid base from which to build a life. It’s a foundation for all you want to be and do in life.

(And if you’re investing, it’s also about a building a foundation for your future, while being in the business of providing a decent home for someone. But it typically involves big numbers, big decisions and big consequences, which means it is critically important to get right.)

At “Properties For Good”, we believe that property can be done with both a desire to do well AND to do good simultaneously.

Jack Butland
real estate Investor & entrepreneur

Jack Butland is an accomplished investor, real estate entrepreneur and the founder of “Properties For Good”.

He graduated from the University of Auckland with a business degree in marketing and finance.

After graduating, Jack worked for a range of companies from Colmar Brunton Research and J R Butland & Sons to multi-nationals including Sharp Corporation, where he rose to head the consumer electronics group.

Jack was instrumental in launching the first LCD television into the New Zealand market. As his business career progressed, Jack realised that corporate life was increasingly unfulfilling.

So, after a 15-year stint, Jack left the corporate world to pursue his entrepreneurial and property interests. Within a few years, Jack built a dynamic portfolio of cashflow apartments.

Then in 2018, Jack discovered the B1G1 Global Giving Movement, and found that he could generate purpose and make an impact – within the business he was already doing. To embed this purpose, in 2020 Jack re-branded his property company as ‘Properties For Good’.

Today, one of Jack’s missions is helping home buyers negotiate their way to becoming property owners.

Jack is also a proud father, a second degree black belt, a keen musician and swimmer. He lives in Auckland, New Zealand.
